The Basic Steps to Clinical Licensure
1. Identify a clinical supervisor and practice site.
2. Request approval for supervision from practice site.
3. Sign contact with supervisor and receive necessary application documents.
4. Request approval to begin supervision from The Board of Social Work by submitting application.
5. Receive approval from practice site and The Board of Social Work.
6. Complete 100 hours within 4 years max, typically done in 2 years at one hour session/week.
7. Start studying for the exam with your study guide 4-6 months before you expect to take the exam.
8. Complete supervision hours and apply to The Board of Social Work to take the exam.
9. Purchase the practice exam upon registration of the exam.
10. Pass the exam! You’re now an LCSW!
HOW MANY SUPERVISION SESSIONS ARE REQUIRED TO BE ABLE TO SIT FOR THE LCSW EXAM?
HOW MUCH DO YOU CHARGE FOR SUPERVISION SESSIONS AND HOW DO I PAY FOR SESSIONS?
Individual sessions cost $100 and group sessions of two or more supervisees cost $50. You may opt to pay through Ivy Pay or invoice.
You must complete 100 total sessions: 50 of which can be group sessions.
